St. Anne’s Church (6/21)

St. Anne’s Episcopal Church was founded in 1692 and was the
first church in Annapolis.  The building we visited, constructed in 1859, is the third
church built (the original was razed, the second caught on fire).

The plaque on the left is in memory of the four Marylanders who signed the declaration of Independence.
Three worshipped at St. Anne’s (Samuel Chase, William Paca, and Thomas Stone), and the
fourth was Charles Carroll of Carrollton, their Roman Catholic Colleague.
The plaque on the right honors Francis Scott Key, who worshipped at St. Anne’s Church.
