Chicago – Oct. 21 – 25

We arrived at the LaSalle/Peru KOA on Thursday evening, which is 90+ miles from Schaumburg. There were very few campgrounds open this time of year, and even fewer with full hookups. Thankfully, the highway repairs between this KOA and Schaumburg were completed, so the drive each way was manageable.

All but the last two pictures below were taken on Saturday as we celebrated Isaac’s Bar Mitzvah and reunited with family members, some of whom we hadn’t seen in over two years.

Proud parents
… and grandparents
Close cousins

Isaac and his friends had a blast at various screens, playing electronics games the names of which we haven’t a clue. πŸ™‚
We made it back to our campsite on Sunday evening right before a storm (generated by the bomb cyclone that came in from the Pacific) hit the Midwest. Doug took these two photos on Monday after the wind and thunderstorms subsided. The campers that were in this now-flooded area were moved to higher ground well before the storm arrived.
This was a dry creek when we arrived on Thursday. We extended our departure until the storm had passed and the high winds died down. SO thankful the nasty weather held off until after Isaac’s celebration.
