We left the beautiful Grand Codroy Campground this morning after scraping frost off of the truck windshield. For the past few nights, we have needed our furnace and our trusty West Marine electric heater that served us so well on the boat. Even though it’s cold, the days are long, with the sun starting to come up shortly after 5 a.m., and setting shortly after 9 p.m. (We are also 90 minutes ahead of Eastern Standard Time.)
Today, we’re heading north out of the Codroy Valley to Robert’s Arm. Our traveling companions wanted to make this return trip (for them) to Newfoundland, specifically to see icebergs. The captain of the ferry correctly identified us as “Iceberg Chasers.” He said they’re usually the only people who come over at this time of year. 🙂 We hope to have good luck with a sighting or two.

Yesterday’s adventure was a drive to the town of Rose Blanche and a very windy hike up to the Rose Blanche Lighthouse. The afternoon was beautifully sunny, with cold, crisp air that was a welcome change after hitting every allergy season along the east coast until we reached Port aux Basques on the ferry.

I love the lighthouse!

We were happy to make it up there. The wind made it challenging! xo

I thought of you last night in your chiller climes as we had a hearty bowl of spicy chili. Wish I had thought to send some from the freezer along on your trip.
