Back in the USA – 7/9

We crossed the border into the US on Sunday morning and had a beautiful drive through the Adirondack Mountains. Arriving in Saratoga Springs at 1:45 pm, we had just enough time to get the camper set up before the rain began. It was still raining on Monday morning, and we watched the news reports of flash flooding south of here. The good news is that our next campground in New Paltz, NY, has not reported any problems from all of the rain.

Today (Monday, 7/10), Dick and Sharon gave us a tour of their former hometown. It is as charming and beautiful as we imagined. Racing season opens this week, and things looked very busy at the track. We drove through the Skidmore College campus, which is comprised of over 1,000 acres in a park-like setting. After lunch at The Local, where we met Dick’s son, we came back to the camper to pull a few things together before our departure tomorrow.
