Doug did some troubleshooting on an irritating noise coming from the rudder that was noticed the previous day underway from Dataw Island.  Discovered that the rudder post was wet at the stuffing box – probably needs to be repacked.  Hopefully that’s all it will need…made arrangements with MarineTech on Hilton Head Island to take a look and hopefully fix on Monday.  We headed to Hilton Head Saturday (12/5) – and while the rudder continued to make the noise (which is getting louder) we also had an issue with the gear shift in the cockpit – wouldn’t engage…so we essentially had no engine.  Doug was able to get it working again – but we will have MarineTech take a look at that problem as well…..it’s a boat….
