May 7 – May 10, 2019:  Oriental, Dowry Creek, Alligator River Marina, Coinjock

For some reason, it’s SO difficult to finally get the dock lines untied and the boat away from the dock.  Complications for this year’s springtime cruise included Marty’s recurring back problem flaring up in addition to a mild case of pneumonia (diagnosis phoned in by our doctor on the afternoon we planned to leave).  Adding antibiotics to our already well-provision vessel, we finally headed down the Neuse toward Oriental at 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon.  An excellent dinner at M&M’s restaurant that night was the perfect way to end a crazy, hectic day.  Subsequent stops included Dowry Creek Marina (nice new docks in place after Hurricane Florence flooded the harbor); Alligator River Marina (always a unique blend of gas station, mini-mart, restaurant, and marina); and Coinjock Marina (superb docking assistance, good food and drink, and lots to admire in the way of yachts traveling up and down the ICW).  We’re looking forward to some calm days at anchor in Chesapeake Bay so Marty can rest up and get back to that “never sitting still” level of energy she’s used to.
