We left the Myrtle Beach Yacht Club on Monday morning after four nights of safe haven from a nasty nor’easter. Osprey Marina had no docks available for Monday night, so we ended up staying at Bucksport Marina right on the Waccamaw River. The price was amazingly reasonable, dock hands helpful, and bathrooms so new it looked like the concrete floor had just been poured. Perhaps so, as our dock neighbor pointed out “The Florence Line” partway up the tree trunks. Tuesday morning we were underway at 7 a.m., with sunshine warming us through our cockpit enclosure. We arrived in Georgetown around 11:30 a.m., and what a beautiful transformation we saw to Harborwalk Marina! Somehow this city revives and rejuvenates after hurricanes, fires, and floods, and we had such a pleasant stay – lunch at The River Room (located in a building constructed in 1888), a delicious dinner onboard after purchasing shrimp and Flounder at Independent Seafood, plus a quick shopping trip to purchase pie plates for Thanksgiving that were forgotten at home. We got acquainted with our dock neighbors from Hamilton, Ontario, and are now sharing the same anchorage with them in Whiteside Creek, with the tops of the Arthur Ravenel Bridge in the distance. We’re expecting a chilly night, so dinner is cooking in the oven to warm our boat. We’ll be anchoring again tomorrow night south of Charleston, then will spend the coming weekend at Port Royal Landing Marina where we purchased our boat 12 years ago.

We love all the details of the trip and especially the good food references! Keep safe and enjoy!

Hi Betsy and Bob, Thanks for following our travels. Yes, food is a much-loved subject – we just hope all of the walking (and eventual bike riding) offset our indulgences. :-). xo

Hi Pam – thanks for following our travels. Weather governs our itinerary, for sure. We stay put when it’s inclement – no need to take chances when we don’t have a schedule. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
