Speed Bump

It has been awhile since our last post. Since Doug’s birthday on 1/7/20, he came down with the nasty cold that’s going around Vero Beach City Marina. Once he felt better, we walked over to the beach to have lunch at Waldo’s (pictured in our earlier post). We were walking through the parking lot when I suddenly became airborne after stumbling over a speed bump; thinking to myself, “This is not good and it’s really going to hurt” (all while happening in slow motion), I hit the pavement, sunglasses went flying, and I could barely breathe with the wind knocked out of me. I was moaning and groaning when a man and his companions (coming from the BMW that actually caught my attention before the fall) came alongside and helped Doug scrape me upright. The restaurant manager rushed over with an ice pack, which I kept on my knee throughout lunch (I was not about to back out on an oceanside lunch). Fast forward to the next day after a trip to Urgent Care, there are no fractures, but a three- to four-week healing period ahead. Soon after this, I came down with Doug’s cold, so little has been done in the way of sightseeing and fun adventures. Our cruising buddies brought us a delicious dinner of Eggplant Parmesan and fresh bread – SO NICE !!

The few photos that have been taken between then and now (1/18/20) appear below. We hope to head for Ft. Lauderdale at the end of this week (~ 1/23, weather permitting).

Full moon over the mooring field
Guitars on display at The Riverside Cafe, a short dinghy ride from our boat. (Guitars autographed by Little Big Town, Taylor Swift, and Jake Owen)
Doug walking up from the ocean at Jaycee Park, which we access from a cutout in the mangroves where we tie our dinghy.
Rowing teams came by our boat early in the morning – we have a beautiful mooring spot, close to creeks and small islands.
