Leaving our mooring at Crandon Park on Monday (2/3), Doug decided to take the Biscayne Channel out of Miami instead of other options (Caesar Creek, Broad Creek, or Angelfish Creek) to get into the Hawk Channel, due to our time of departure and water levels. Biscayne Channel provided plenty of deep water, and it was a beautiful day with light wind and low waves.

We anchored overnight with a dozen other boats off of Rodriguez Key, and arrived at Marathon Marina mid-afternoon on Tuesday the 4th. Doug discovered on Monday that the batteries were no longer being charged because the regulator had become overheated due to a faulty fan which, when working properly, cools the engine compartment. Now today, 2/7, everything is repaired thanks to Brandon at Marathon Boatyard. We are also minus one boat buck (+ change).
We’ll stay here in Marathon through the weekend, because strong winds are in the forecast (gusts in the 30’s). This will also give us time to get a taxi (no Uber in the Keys, per the dockmaster) over to the grocery, finish doing the laundry, and *maybe* reserve a ride on that cute little “Cruisin’ Tiki” once the rain quits.

Well, now that the comment block is working again I feel pressure! 🙂
