Marathon – 2/11 – 2/16

There is a restaurant at Marathon Marina called “Lazy Days.” That’s exactly how we spent our time when we were there. The weather was warm, and we truly felt like we were on vacation. Marathon Marina does an outstanding job in making guests feel at home and accommodating boaters’ needs. We have reserved a week there for our return trip north, which begins next month.

We spent most afternoons in this pool. Beautiful view!
Sunset from the T-dock,
where the large boats tie up
. . . like this one!
We took dinghy rides frequently, and this one brought us out to the ocean via Sister Creek. Doug’s big grin could be attributed to the discovery that some of the beach-goers were topless. I must say, also, that I have never seen a thong on a man up-close (in this case, about ten feet away). Yikes!
Boats on the moorings in Marathon City Marina at Boot Key Harbor. This is a partial view of this field that holds over 225 moored boats, plus a few dozen boats in the anchorage.
This is “Lazy Days” from poolside – the restaurant is open to the water – great views, great food, and the place is always packed.
Wine at Valentine’s Day dinner – all the ladies received a fresh flower that evening.

Mine went into this little “vase” I have had since we were sailing out of Pultneyville back in the 1980’s.
I just love how some boats are lit up at night. This yacht was SO large that I had to take this shot from the opposite pier, which unfortunately resulted in the marina sign getting into the picture.
Our provision kit for our passage from Marathon to Stock Island. I filled it with food and beverages for the day, since my problem with motion sickness precludes going below when wave heights are above two feet. On this day (2/16), waves were 2-4 feet, with a (mostly) following sea. We arrived at Stock Island around 3 pm.
