Marathon – 4/18/20

Sharing a few pictures from this past week.

A hearty Easter breakfast after attending church in Alexandria, VA, via Zoom
We dinghied over to anchor near the beach and go for a swim
It has been very warm here all week, with the heat index in the 90’s most days
A Manatee and his friend (hiding) swam slowly past our boat the other day
Picking up our take-away dinner from the restaurant next to the pool
Our Bauer’s Cove friends, Betsy & Bob, sent a surprise package to us! How sweet of them!♥️
Observing the recommended precautions

To date, there are 73 cases of Covid-19 in all of Monroe County, with Marathon’s total remaining at 5. We are so grateful for the efforts that keep us safe here where we are, as well as the heroic efforts on the front lines of this battle. We do not feel confident in leaving here just yet, though the clock is ticking closer to the beginning of hurricane season, June 1. Our cruising friends are waiting for a weather window to leave the Bahamas, where they are now anchored and not allowed to be off their boats.

Those who are protesting their state’s stay-at-home orders might be interested to know how other countries are handling the coronavirus pandemic.

  2. Thanks for the update. I wondered what kind of adventures you were involved in this week. Still observing our “stay at home” order as much as possible. I do have to go in to work Monday AM meeting for a planning meeting of how & when we will reopen, though no guidance of when that will be!! Take care & continue to stay safe!!

    1. Thanks, Laurie! Hope things went well at the meeting – what a challenging time it has been between hurricanes and this!

  3. It looks and sounds wonderful. I know you may feel trapped but watching manatees and swimming in the ocean sounds awesome.

I hope we have a nice weekend soon so we can take the boat out. Maybe we will find a sandbar and enjoy a swim.

Enjoy what you can and thank you for sharing the pictures we are enjoying them. Be safe and stay healthy.

    1. Thanks, Pam. Yes, we are very fortunate to be socially distancing where we are. Hope you’ll soon be on your boat, also. Stay well.
