Downtown Miami was nearly deserted this morning. Surreal. Our route out of Miami: follow the ICW dotted line to Government Cut, then out that channel turning “right” (on the page) and northbound in the Atlantic
We left our anchorage off downtown Miami at 7 am, had a perfect day motorsailing up to Lake Worth, and arrived at 4 pm. Since that time, we’ve been out in the cockpit watching our anchor and other boats, as we’re in that dreaded anchoring situation of opposing wind and current. Boats are swinging in all different directions, but at least we’ve been able to determine that our anchor is set. That’s half the battle.
We also have differing weather forecasts regarding the wind tonight. I just know this guarantees a restless night. Tomorrow we’ll be in the ICW up to (hopefully) Vero Beach. That’s 67 miles from here, a challenge on the ICW without the benefit of a sail. We need to be someplace secure for the inclement weekend weather ahead. More pix to follow – will update later.
Heading down Government Cut – This and a cup of coffee will quickly wake you up in the morning.Idle cruise shipIdle dock yardPassing South BeachIt may be hard to see the young man off of our port side. Attached to a kite sail, he and a companion went whizzing past us.Here’s part of his sailAnd here, just above the water jugs, is his companion cutting close to our bow. How it’s considered “sport” to use motoring vessels as part of your slalom course is beyond comprehension. As if we hadn’t had enough excitement, we passed by Mar a LagoHere’s the moonrise view from our boat at anchor in Lake Worth

Loved the photo of the MSC Lucy and your coffee wake up. You have the full moon to guide you north. Both are good omens. 🧘♀️May the force be with you. Marg.
