Vero Beach – 5/7/20

Today we rested after four days of travel. Our only chore was to go over to the fuel dock for diesel, water, pumpout, and trash disposal. I told the dock attendant how grateful we are that the marina is open; he replied, “And I’m very grateful to have a job.” I hope he becomes the marina manager, at the very least.

The wind has been howling all day long. A boat’s mooring broke loose this afternoon (with the boat still attached) and went sailing by our friends’ boats, stopped only by its anchor that attached to another boat’s bowsprit. We were told it made quite a noise on impact. Thankfully, no one was aboard either boat.

Who would have thought we’d go from record-high temperatures to being chilly enough to have the oven on? Besides freshly baked brownies (for dessert), we had oven-roasted pulled pork, sweet potatoes, and green beans for dinner.

We’ll be up early tomorrow morning to head to Cocoa (we spent New Year’s Eve there on the way down). It’s supposed to be in the 50’s when we leave Vero, then in the 80’s by the time we get to Cocoa – crazy weather! Aside from the wind, it was a pretty evening. Here’s our neighbors, Brynli and Ohana.

  2. Stay safe dear friends. It is a chilly 37 degrees in chicagoland this morning. Glad that marinas and services are open for you as you travel north!

    1. Brrrr!! Christine just told me she put all the family’s winter clothes away, so she says this is all her fault. 😁 Thanks for your sweet travel wishes. β™₯️
