Fernandina Beach – 5/13

We arrived in Fernandina at 4 pm – 9.5 hours on the ICW, and 59 miles. We’ll time our departure tomorrow to coincide with slack tide. This area is known for swift currents and tides.

I finally saw some Roseate Spoonbills (enlargements below courtesy of the
Captain and his new phone)
This is the next leg of our journey home.
Just two nights in Georgia, hopefully. We are keeping an eye on that subtropical system.

Here are some of our dock neighbors at Fernandina

  1. Wow, you got some serious neighbors! Glad to see you’re making such good progress. Don’t be dragging that tropical storm up here! Hopefully it will leave you alone and go away.

    Safe travels!

    1. The Captain told me this morning that “Arthur” (potentially) just might brush by the NC coast! Lord help me if we get stuck someplace ….
Yes, neighbors from the islands – have only seen crew. 😁 You two stay well.

  2. Such great pictures. I love the water and have not seen much of it lately but hopefully we will have the whole summer to explore again. The diving birds are what I love to watch fish and sun on the coast. I love to see the Roseate Spoonbills when we go south for a cruise and they are majestic birds.
Be safe and thank you for sharing your adventure. It makes me smile every time I receive these and cannot wait to open and see the pictures.
