Wildflower Walks & Hikes – 4/13/22

Our day’s activity began at Cate’s Hole and ended on the Appalachian Trail. Lots of pictures!

This picture was taken by a young lady from Sanford, NC!
Crossing the Doe River to Moonshiners Run Trail

On to the next trail: Peg Leg Mine, originating at the Visitors’ Center.

Rugged vs. Beautiful

Next we drove back up to Carver’s Gap to walk on the Appalachian Trail. The temperature dropped at least 10 degrees while the wind picked up in equal measure.

Heading back down. Bears *do* live here!
We worked up an appetite, so we dropped into this place and thoroughly enjoyed pork
Bar-b-Que sandwiches that were so very different from Eastern NC ! After we ate, we called to wish our granddaughter a
Happy 17th Birthday. Tomorrow we’ll be back in Asheville.

  1. Beautiful pictures! Continue to have safe travels! Weather here has been in the 80’s since Monday. Much different than the weekend. Take care!
