Back in NC – pix from 4/14, 4/15

As show in previous pix, we were right on the TN/NC border for the past three nights.Β  The distance from the top of Roan Mountain to Asheville is approximately 49 miles, however towing a camper requires taking a route with fewer hairpin curves, making Thursday’s drive almost twice as long, though we still arrived at KOA Swannanoa shortly before noon.Β Β  We filled the afternoon with a trip to Camping World, then wanted some lunch.Β  Thinking there might be a cute place nearby, we looked on Google and – surprise (!) – saw that Sierra Nevada Brewery was just a few miles away!Β  We had heard it was enormous and quite nice, and those reports proved to be very accurate.

A picture of me taking the picture πŸ™‚
Seated at our table for lunch, two servers appeared – a young man in his (approx.) late twenties, and an extremely young lady apparently in training. I asked her for the lightest draught beer they had. She responded, “Well, for your demographic, I would suggest Sunny Little Thing.” I couldn’t hold back my smile until she departed, but managed to stifle my laughter. Hmmm … how, exactly, would you describe MY demographic?!? πŸ™‚ Moving on, she was correct – the draught was delicious and the food outstanding!

Time to head over to the campsite

We were awakened Friday morning by banging on our door and a campground staff member telling us we had to move to a different campsite due to an error made when we checked in. Ugh! For all the effort that takes, we shifted over two whole campsites, though we were thanked for our cooperation with a bundle of dry wood and a firestarter. Our new neighbor had a nifty camper and shared some interesting stories with us.

Taking the Blue Ridge Parkway down to look around Cashiers and Highlands on Friday
We stopped for lunch at The Grill Room in Connestee Falls – no falls were seen, but we had a nice golf course view from our table on their upper deck

We passed Bridal Veil Falls on our way back to the campsite

    1. Hi Betsy and Bob, yes, it’s been a fun trip, and our first “real” outing since Covid hit. Heading home tomorrow, though we have more adventures planned. Thanks again for following us. XO
