Acadia & Schoodic – 8/17, 8/18

Wednesday was wet. 3.5 inches of rain fell. During a lull, we took a short drive to Bar Harbor. The fog reminds us of our California days.

Thursday was cloudy and cool, but the rain stopped (except for occasional drizzly moments). We drove to Acadia NP on the Schoodic Peninsula, stopping often on the road that parallels the coastline. (LOTS of pictures follow)

This is where we spent Thursday
At Frazer Point
Along the Coast
Wild Beach Rose Hips and one late bloomer
We stopped at the Schoodic Institute to see the exhibits at Rockefeller Hall welcome center and tour the grounds.
Rockefeller Hall
We decided to walk the Sundew Trail
There were three spurs off of the trail, with log benches where you could relax and draw in the view
End of the trail, so back to the coastal drive
One last picture of Beach Roses – their fragrance is heavenly! Now it’s time to get back to our campsite on Mt. Desert Island.

    1. Nights have required a comforter. Just what we were looking forward to weeks ago in July’s North Carolina heat! Thank you for following our travels again.

  1. Loving your photos of your stops in Maine. Bob and I took our two oldest grandkids to many of the same areas in the 90’s. Enjoy and be safe!💞
