Last Days in Maine

Leaving beautiful Camden Hills State Park, we made our way over to Boothbay Harbor and our campsite at the Boothbay Craft Brewery. It’s a popular spot and, surprisingly, our most expensive dinner tabs to date, though we don’t mind paying a little more for ultra-fresh, excellent food.

Some of our camping neighbors.
After getting set up at the campsite, we took a drive around Boothbay Harbor and East Boothbay, ending up in Ocean Point.
We stopped to look at this chapel.
Life at Ocean Point is much calmer than in downtown Boothbay Harbor.
Back at the campground, we joined a couple from Boston and had dinner outdoors in the Beer Garden.
On Friday afternoon we toured the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Had it not been so hot and humid, I’d still be there admiring the beautiful grounds.
We were excited to see the Trolls again, these being built on-site in 2021 by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. We first saw Dambo’s Trolls at the Morton Arboretum in Chicago (pre-Covid).
In the Butterfly Garden

In the Garden of the Five Senses
In the Meditation Garden
Along the Shoreland Trail on the Back River
At The Landing, before going back to the Visitors Center.
We returned to our campsite before thunderstorms rolled in. Since Friday night was rainy, we ate indoors at the brewery.
Suspended from the ceiling is track for a vintage O-gauge train which was not running that night, much to Doug’s disappointment.
On Saturday afternoon, we drove over to Southport Island and Robinson’s Wharf Restaurant for a late lunch.
They carry beer from Boothbay Craft Brewery (Thirsty Botanist – green can on the tap).
Summer is starting to wane.
Our last night in Maine, we ate outdoors at the brewery despite the chill in the air.

  2. You both have so much fun and you deserve it. Don and I have discussed getting a pull behind and yours is about the same size we have been looking at. Maybe our paths will cross sometime while camping. Keep enjoying life to the fullest.

    1. Thanks, Pam! Yes, camping proves it’s a very small world. Hope you find the perfect camper – we’ve found that by staying on the smaller size, we rarely have a problem getting a campsite. Good luck with your search. 🙂
