Illinois

Another much-needed two-night stop, this time in Pana, IL.  We never heard of it, either, but Doug’s well-traveled cousin Greg and wife Kathy highly recommended this destination (Oak Terrace RV Resort) several miles outside of St. Louis.  Since our arrival, the only sounds we’ve heard are birds chirping, cicadas doing their buzzing/grinding thing, and an occasional lawn maintenance tool. According to the office manager, we have the best campsite (#10), and we have to agree.

Thursday evening, overlooking the lake.

After traveling over very bumpy highways to get here, we opened up the camper to find the contents of the bathroom medicine cabinet in the sink, the clothes in the closet off of the hanging rod and lightly dusted with the contents of a powder container left open, the ceiling fan screen on the floor, the converter breaker tripped, and the roller for the sliding door off the track and on the floor.Β  So, we put everything back in place and afterwards went outside to relax.Β  We were asleep by 8:30, and after a good night’s sleep, Doug had the energy to caulk around windows and doors, rearrange the truck storage (again), and try to find the source of a small leak under the sink (the dealer has also tried to troubleshoot this three times).

Later this afternoon, we’ll take a ride around this development and stop in to Mulligan’s for a bite to eat.  I’d also like to find out the story behind these nice football field remnants that make perfect patio spots at each campsite.  Right now, though, we’re relaxing … again!  πŸ™‚

Tomorrow, we’ll be at Crowder State Park in Missouri.

  2. That was our site too, we really enjoyed it and the astroturf. Sorry to hear you had to work when you got there though. If it makes you feel any better, I’m working on plumbing leaks today too.
