Some Key West Favorites

Kelly’s was opened in 1992 by Fred Tillman and actress Kelly McGillis, who starred with Tom Cruise in the movie, “Top Gun.”  Located near the museums, the restaurant is in the former office and birthplace of PamAm World Airways.
With a gorgeous outdoor brick patio surrounded by plants and shaded by trees, Kelly’s was a favorite spot
for meeting cruising friends (Wendy and Dan; Jeannette and Terry).

We bicycled over here twice to enjoy the food and ocean view.
Tucked away on a little side street, we had lunch on their patio twice and dinner inside once.
That’s our pizza in the oven, which reaches 1,000 degrees!

So glad we found this place!   Wonderful seasonings, beautiful jewelry and artwork.  It is diagonally across from
Maggie Ruley’s Island Inspirations Gallery (“Island Art for Happy People”).   In chatting with Maggie, I
learned that some of her pieces were carried in Carolina Creations, in downtown New Bern.  Yet another small world story from this trip.

This is the incredible artistry of Jack Storms, who was showing his glass sculptures
at Gallery 511 Fine Art on Greene Street.

The Fabulous Spectrelles at “The Bull.”

We heard Patrick and the Swayzees one more time at The Green Parrot.
Patrick is on bass; Les Greene, vocals, River on keyboards, Jerrod on
Guitar and T-bone on Drums.

The Shrimp Rd. Grill, owned by eco-conscious Melodye Reger from Berkeley, CA.  Great food, atmosphere, and music — especially on Saturday Night Jam Nights hosted by Emily Springsteen and the Rev. Gwecko W. Phlocker (104.9 FM “The Soundman . . .”).  Adjacent to Stock Island Marina, we wandered over here several times for fresh greens topped with Hogfish (Marty) and Florida Pink Shrimp (Doug).
