Fancy Gap, VA – 6/5 – 6/8/25

This is one of our favorite stops, and it’s no surprise to us that this KOA has won dozens of awards.  Our campsite is atop the hill in this beautifully maintained campground.

A beautiful Mountain Laurel is in bloom at our campsite
We took a walk around the Mabry Mill, where they are repairing the roof of the mill, though there are fewer NPS workers at this historic site.
This still played an important role, especially during Prohibition.
View from the dining deck at Chateau Morissette, where we had an excellent lunch.  We had two very low-key days on account of Marty’s knee swelling after several days of hiking.

  1. Beautiful scenes! Of course if Doug REALLY loved you, he’d just pick you up and haul you piggyback!

    1. Yes and yes! 🙂 We’ll be hiking in Shenandoah tomorrow, so we’ll see if three days of rest have done the trick. 🙂
