Limekiln Lake – 6/17, 6/18

After brief stays in Pennsylvania and the Finger Lakes, we arrived at Limekiln Lake just as a light rain began, though it was over by the time we got to our campsite (there are over 200 in this park).

Our campsite is close to the lake,
and not far from the beach.
We drove over to test the water temperature and determined it was just right for kayaking.
We drove over to the boat launch and blew up one of our two kayaks.  Doug blew it up, then Marty pushed off from shore.
Now it’s time for Doug to paddle.
There were butterflies on shore,
and this guy, who I almost stepped on.

Tomorrow’s forecast is for rain late in the morning.  Our plan is to take both kayaks out before the weather changes.

  1. We were just wondering about you guys a few minutes ago! Good timing 🤣 Beautiful area, I haven’t been there in many years. The folks were camped there and I went down from Plattsburgh to visit. Makes me miss the Adirondacks something awful. The lake looks so clear! Love the inflatable kayaks.

    1. Quick reply – we’re in Lake Placid now going for a late lunch. Limekiln was beautiful, but I am a bug magnet regardless of the cool weather. 🙂 Big rain last night and wind today, though it’s sunny. 🌞 Thanks for following us – we were without signal at Limekiln 99% of the time.

    1. Sorry for the late reply – we were dry camping for the past several days. Hope your puppy is better. Doug saw you on camera the other day – your Oscar is forthcoming! 🙂 Thanks for keeping watch.

      1. Yes, but it’s brand-new right on the river. Many sites aren’t finished, and the wood in the buildings still smells brand-new. The older campground is up the road and across the street.
