After a gently winding drive up a hill dotted with sculptures, we came to three farmhouse-style buildings and a parking area marked by unobtrusive signage. We were taken by surprise after walking through the “plain and simple” (my impression) front entrance of the Yester House. Inside we were captivated by The Lyman Orton Collection, Dona Ann McAdams’ photographs, and smaller exhibits in comfortable galleries with plenty of sitting areas. The various works of art (something for everyone) and accompanying stories of the artists kept us engaged until our stomachs were growling and our backs complaining. We then made our way over to the adjacent Curate Cafe and had a leisurely mid-afternoon lunch on their patio.

After lunch we attempted a walk, but our backs were strongly protesting – we got as far as this clump of Black Cohosh, then walked back to the parking lot – we’ll put that on the list for another year/visit.
